HELPING OTHERS

THE BASIS OF HELPING OTHERS:

1 Timothy 6:18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share

IT IS GOD'S COMMAND:
1. TO DO GOOD
2. TO BE RICH IN GOOD DEEDS
3. TO BE GENEROUS
4. TO BE WILLING TO SHARE

REGARDING GIVING:

2 Corinthians 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

THIS IS THE BASIS WHY WE DO NOT ASK FOR REGULAR CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALL OUR MEMBERS, NOR WE ASK MEMBERSHIP FEE FOR MEMBERS OF DEUS(GOD).

BUT, BECAUSE WE HELP PEOPLE IN NEED ON A REGULAR BASIS, THE FUNDS THAT WE HAVE ARE EXPERIENCING LOW TO NONE.

THESE ARE THE TIMES WE ASK HELP FROM OUR MEMBERS TO HELP US.

ASKING HELP FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE GROUP/ORGANIZATION/ COMMUNITY/ CHURCH OF GOD IS ALSO DONE BY THOSE WHO SERVE CHRIST IN THE OLD CHURCH.

INSTANCES IN THE CHURCH WHEN THE CHURCH LEADERS ASKED FOR HELP FROM THE CHURCH:

Philemon 1:20 I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ.

Romans 16:2 I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been a great help to many people, including me.

THROUGH THESE EXAMPLES, IT IS IMPLIED THAT THOSE WHO SERVE GOD TO DO HIS MISSIONARY WORKS CAN ALSO ASK HELP FROM THE GROUP/ ORGANIZATION/ COMMUNITY/ CHURCH OF GOD.

WHY THESE HELP IS NEEDED?

THOSE WHO SERVE CHRIST SUFFER MUCH TO DO THE MISSION WORKS SET BY GOD.

THEREFORE, THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE SERVANTS OF GOD ASKS FOR HELP.

SOME REFERENCE TO THE SUFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES ENDURED BY THOSE WHO FOLLOW CHRIST

Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

2 Corinthians 6:10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

2 Corinthians 12:15 So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less?

Philippians 2:17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

2 Timothy 1:8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God,

2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

THE SERVANTS OF GOD SUFFER FOR THE GROUP/ ORGANIZATION/ COMMUNITY/ CHURCH/ PEOPLE OF GOD.

THE SUFFERINGS ENDURED BY THE SERVANTS OF GOD WILL BENEFIT THOSE WHO ARE WITHIN THE GROUP/ ORGANIZATION/ COMMUNITY/ CHURCH/ PEOPLE OF GOD.

IN THE OLD CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THERE ARE REFERENCES TO INSTANCES THAT MEMBERS OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH WHO ARE ABLE TO HELP DID HELP THE SERVANTS OF GOD, AND OTHER BRETHREN WHO ARE SUFFERING.

INSTANCES THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH HAVE HELPED AND REFRESHED THOSE WHO SERVED CHRIST, AND THE LEADERS, OTHER MEMBERS RECEIVED THE HELP:

1 Corinthians 16:17-18 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.

For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.

2 TIMOTHY 1:16 May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.

2 Corinthians 9:11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Romans 16:23 Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city's director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings.

Philemon 1:7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

Romans 15:26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

ADDITIONAL BASIS WHY WE DO MISSION WORKS, OUTREACH, AND HELP TO THE POOR AND THE NEEDY?

Matthew 5:42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Matthew 25:40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

BASIS OF SELLING POSSESSIONS TO GIVE TO THE POOR:

LUKE 12:33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Luke 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

WHY DO WE DOCUMENT WHAT WE DO IN THE MISSION WORKS?

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

THIS IS TO MAKE THE LIGHT SHINE BEFORE MEN, THAT THEY MAY SEE THESE GOOD WORKS, AND BE THE REASON OF PRAISE FOR GOD THE FATHER IN HEAVEN

Luke 16:12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own?

THE FUND FOR THE MISSION WORKS WE RECEIVE IS GIVEN BY THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED.

IT IS RIGHTEOUS TO DOCUMENT IT SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THE FUNDS GO.

THE PROMISE TO THOSE WHO HAVE HELPED IN HELPING THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED:

saiah 58:10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

THE PROMISE TO THOSE WHO HELP THE SERVANTS OF CHRIST:

Matthew 10:42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."

Hebrews 6:10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

A REMINDER TO OUR BRETHREN WHO HAS THE CAPACITY TO HELP BUT DO NOT HELP:

1 John 3:17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

James 2:16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

REMEMBER THIS:

James 2:26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

WHAT DOES OUR FAITH IN CHRIST COMMANDS US TO DO?

1 Timothy 6:18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share

IT IS GOD'S COMMAND:
1. TO DO GOOD
2. TO BE RICH IN GOOD DEEDS
3. TO BE GENEROUS
4. TO BE WILLING TO SHARE

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:17 This is my command: Love each other.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Galatians 5:14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

1 Thessalonians 4:9 Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

COMPASSION, MERCY, KINDNESS, GENEROSITY, SELF-SACRIFICE ARE PARTS AND PARCEL OF THE EXPRESSION OF LOVE.

AS LOVE IS THE SUM OF ALL THE COMMANDMENTS, MAY WE HELP OTHERS IN NEED, AND HELP THOSE WHO SERVE GOD TO CARRY THEIR MISSION WORKS AND OUTREACH- FOR LOVE.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE.
