PRIDE VS. HUMILITY

LUKE 18:14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

GOD MADE IT SO THAT THIS PRINCIPLE IS SET:

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled

he who humbles himself will be exalted

OTHER SUPPORTING VERSES OF THIS PRINCIPLE ARE THE FOLLOWING:

LUKE 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

JAMES 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

MATTHEW 23:12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

THEREFORE, IF THIS IS SO, WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF BEING HUMBLE IN CONTRAST TO BEING PROUD?

PROVERBS 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

PRIDE RESULTS IN DISGRACE

HUMILITY RESULTS IN WISDOM

PROVERBS 18: 12 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

PRIDE COMES BEFORE DOWNFALL

HUMILITY COMES BEFORE HONOR

PROVERBS 29:23 A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

PRIDE BRINGS LOWNESS

LOWLY SPIRIT (HUMILITY) GAINS HONOR

THEREFORE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE HUMBLE BEFORE GOD AND FELLOWMEN, FOR THERE IS A RESULTANT EFFECT IN OBSERVING ONE AND THE OTHER, WHICH IS ALREADY FIXED UPON THE WORD OF GOD.

MAY WE OBSERVE HUMILITY BEFORE GOD AND MEN, AND IF EVER WE FORGET THIS, LET US REFLECT ON GOD'S WORDS TO BRING US AGAIN TO THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
